British Intelligence Higher Apprenticeship – IT, Software, Internet and Telecomms
£17,942 pa – Cheltenham
This is a Technical Apprenticeship like no other. As well as developing unique technical skills, you’ll be at the heart of British Intelligence. Working on some of the world’s most sophisticated technical systems and equipment, you’ll help to protect the UK against cyber threats, terrorism, espionage and organised crime.
The Apprenticeship programme
On this uniquely challenging programme, you’ll develop high level technical expertise, while also building your teamwork, communication and leadership skills. Starting in September 2017, you’ll enjoy a mix of classroom based learning and practical experience, including a variety of research, development and project work. There’s a strong emphasis on programming and technology, so you’ll be able to develop your expertise in areas such as:
• Information Assurance
• Software Engineering
• Analogue and Digital Signal Processing
• GSM fundamentals
• Mobile telephony protocols
• Fundamentals of data communications and protocols
Throughout the programme, you’ll have plenty of support from academic and GCHQ staff, including a mentor, and will be able to develop your skills through technical training and job shadowing. Most of all, you’ll be making a major contribution to protecting everyone in the UK in the fast-changing cyber world.
On completion, you’ll have a Foundation Degree in Cyber Security and a Level 4 Diploma in IT Professional Competence.
What you’ll need
As well as a strong interest in programming and technology, you’ll either have, or will be expecting to gain three A-levels at grade C or above, or equivalent, including at least two in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths related subjects.
